This term, P7 have been really enjoying learning about Earth Structures. We have learned about the structure of the Earth and the movement of tectonic plates. We have been delighted to have visitors into class to talk to us about how the movemement of tectonic plates over time has shaped Scotland’s landscape. This was reinforced at Lagganlia when the instructors were able to point out geographical features to us.
However, the highlight of this topic has been building volcanoes in cooperative groups and then using common chemicals to produce an eruption! Through this, we have been learning how compounds react to form new compounds – in this case carbon dioxide. This fitted in nicely with our lecture at Boroughmuir High School on gases during the Winter Science Lecture as part of the transition programme. We couldn’t resist trying a more explosive reaction using fizzy juice and mints while we were outside too!
All in all, a very productive and enjoyable term. Ho Ho Hope you enjoy the pictures and video and have a relaxing Christmas break.
The P7 Team.
